Arthur Augustine Booth-Clibborn
Arthur Augustine Booth-Clibborn was the Son of Kate and Arthur Sydney Booth-Clibborn and the grandson of William Booth who founded the Salvation Army and became its first General.
Crowley initiated Booth-Clibborn into the A∴A∴ on 15 March 1922. Crowley had written out an Oath for Booth-Clibborn to take. 'I, Arthur Augustine Booth-Clibborn, in the presence of The Beast 666, solemnly pledge myself to the Great Work.' When Crowley offered the Oath to Booth-Clibborn he refused to sign it and brought down upon his head the anger of the Beast. Crowley wrote in his record that: 'He was too cowardly to sign this [Oath]. He was premeditating treachery and swindling me: but he feared terribly.' |
