Benjamin Dawson

Benjamin Dawson was initiated into the degree on 17 April 1915 through the British Columbia Lodge No. 1. The ceremony was performed by W.C. Clark and Charles Stansfeld Jones with Jones as Saladin and Clark as Black Guard.

 

Owing to his fraternal obligations as a Regular Royal Arch Mason Dawson was affiliated to the IV° on 23 October 1915.

 

When Charles Stansfeld Jones stepped aside as Master of the Lodge at their 1916 New Years' celebration. He appointed Dawson to succeed him for the first half of the year and W.C. Clark for the remainder of the year. Dawson resigned from this duty at the Lodge meeting of 25 January 1916, feeling that is was his patriotic duty to enlist in the military. In July 1917 Charles Stansfeld Jones wrote to Aleister Crowley informing him that Dawson was reported as "killed in action."
