Herbert Sherman Gorman

Herbert Gorman was born in Springfield, Massachusetts in 1893. He began his literary career in the newspaper business, first as a reporter and then as an editor on several New York newspapers, including the Times and the Herald Tribune. At the same time, he contributed poetry, articles, and book reviews to magazines and was the author of twenty books, mostly historical novels and biographies. Gorman and his wife, Jean Wright Gorman, compiled and wrote an introduction to The Peterborough Anthology (1923), a collection of the works of poets at the MacDowell Colony, New Hampshire.
