Harriette Dorothea Hunter, nče Butler

Born: circa 1868.

Died: circa 1958.

Harriette Dorothea Hunter was a member and Cancellarius of the Golden Dawn. Her original surname was Butler. In 1896 she married fellow Golden Dawn member Edmund Arthur Hunter and had two sons. She was a friend of W.B. Yeats.

Maud Cracknell had been appointed assistant secretary to the 2nd Order, to help Dorothea Hunter with its administration since Dorothea was busy with two small children. It had been Maud that Crowley had written to a few weeks before, requesting some manuscripts available only to 2nd Order members. Maud must have replied that, to be allowed read those manuscripts, he must apply to Dorothea as her superior officer. Crowley did so, and received a letter from Dorothea on behalf of the Golden Dawn's 2nd Order, saying that they were not prepared to recognize Crowley as a member.
