Arturo Sabatini was a resident of the Abbey of Thelema. He was a poor boy who hated his home and hung around at the Abbey, hoping to join them. His eyes were damaged during the war, and he spent his pension of two hundred lire a month to buy sweet wine and cigarettes for Ninette Shumway. According to Ninette, he was pleasing company, and when she was lonely, she would let him stay the night. Leah Hirsig soon began instructing him in magic, while Ninette practiced sex magic with him.
