William Austin Paul Steff-Langston

 

Born: 1872 in Thame, Oxfordshire, England.

Died: 1941.

 

 

William Austin Paul Steff-Langston was born in 1872 Thame, Oxfordshire, England and was the organist at St Mary's Church in Woburn from 1904.

 

He was a member of the London chapter of the O.T.O. circa 1915. George MacNie Cowie  made him the Secretary and Treasurer of the London Chapter in July of 1916 and promised him he'd have the post of Chief Musician of the Temple.

 

He became a Freemason in 1920. During the early 20s he toured with the Harvey Bathurst pipe organ. He was opening organist playing Christie organs at Lido Cinema, Islington; Globe Cinema. Old Kent Road & Elite Picture Palace, Wimbledon.

 

In May 1927 he recorded Hungarian Dance, No. 5 and Intermezzo in C for Columbia records using the Christie at the Elite, in 1932 he was playing at the Ambassador, Hendon Central.

 

Steff-Langston died in 1941.
