Correspondence from William Wynn Westcott to F.L. Gardner
URGENT [Marked on the outside of the postcard]
Private
[14 April] 1900
Dear G[ardner],
The Committee to investigate the G.D. [Golden Dawn] which contains Yeats [W.B. Yeats], [Percy] Bullock and I suppose [William] Ayton, have wanted to borrow the Cypher MSS. to look at. I make no objection, but I ask for protection and I think the Committee should give indemnify [to] me, if I lend at their request, without prejudice.
The Comm[itteeJ asked me not to tell anyone; but if they split, one can't tell what may happen . Send me any news at Cor[oner's] office, Calvert Avenue E.
Best Wishes,
Yours sincerely,
S.A.
