Dear Sir,

I got your letter on arrival here, and am very sorry to say that I have had no communication from the printers for more than a month. I know the vol. [Volume 2 of The Collected Works] was nearly ready six weeks ago and more; but five sheets appear to have been lost in the post. The intention of the publishers was to allow 3 months to elapse after the publication of Vol II before the closing day for the essays [A Career for an Essay]; and I imagine that they will stick to this.

I am glad you like the form of 'Oracles' and 'Orpheus'; though, as you imply, the contents are contemptible. Orpheus, in particular, has been for 4 years, worse than a wife to me.

Yours very truly

Aleister Crowley
