Correspondence from Charles Stansfeld Jones to Aleister Crowley
Post Office Box 70 Vancouver. B.C.
September 30th 1917 E.V.
To S.H. Frater ΘΗΡΙΟΝ
Care Pater et Frater,
Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.
In yours dated AN XII, Sol in Cancer, Luna in Aries you wrote, "To revert to A∴A∴, you know I suppose what those letters stand for. Tell me." and I did not answer your question.
Last night, just before going to sleep, the answer was given to me, it is A&A, and the numeration 86. I also noticed that by a curious co-incidence V.I.O. has this numeration and should have led me to this discovery before, but this is not all. As you are aware I had just begun a series of articles and used the motto "Nosce Teipsum" which by the way is the old Stansfeld Motto—and on the 28th had done an Op[eratio]n. for 'Whatsoever the Holy One should vouchsafe unto us', when I came to enter up my record of this to-day, I find it was Opn LXXXVI.
I am glad to at last be able to answer you with certainty.
Love is the law, love under will.
Filially and Fraternally,
