Correspondence from Leah Hirsig to Frank Bennett

Care Frater,
93
I arrived here two days ago and find London (meaning booksellers, publishers, etc.) terribly anti-Crowley. As far as I can make out, they won't touch any of his work.
The Beast is very ill, in Paris, and I am just recovering from 10 days in bed with bronchitis.
Do you think you can do anything to help out with these books here. I am enclosing a list of them—there may be a few less than as per list but you see the stock is immense. In fact, I am sure you can do so.
I am staying at Mary's [Mary Butts] as you may notice by the address but at present she is not here. Cecil [Cecil Maitland] came in last evening and took me to dinner but I got so drunk (on practically nothing) that I had to be hustled home.
Jane [Jane Wolfe] did not go to America as yet. She and Shummy [Ninette Shumway] and the lads are holding the old shack down.
Please do your level best to help out. You can send your order to me c/o Messrs. Parker Garrett & Co., St. Michael's Rectory, Cornhill, London E.C.3 or perhaps better to Cefalu where it can be forwarded to me in case I leave London in the near future.

Alostrael, 31-66-31
Much love to you
Miss Leah Hirsig is my name (sometimes) Especially to P.G. & Cefalu
We are hoping to sell the Rodin Bks. [Rodin in Rime] Separately—here.
