Correspondence from Aleister Crowley to Jane Wolfe
31 Wellington Square Chelsea S.W.
[Undated: circa May 1922]
Dear Estai [Jane Wolfe],
93!
I have taken a room here—a nice quiet house where I shall be able to work. Things seem to be going rather well, but I've only been here 3 days. It seems probable however that I shall have to stay a month or two more—perhaps till the middle of August.
So will you send me my two pairs of white flannel trousers and the striped flannel jacket? Please sew up 10 grammes of the Hero's Bride [Heroin] in small flat packets, and [illegible] them by opening the lining somewhere and sewing them up again.
Léa [Leah Hirsig] is in Fontainebleau for a G.[reat] M.[agical] R.[etirement] which I hope will restore her physically and finish the other side of her initiation as well. I shall be glad to have regular news of you all. I am particularly keen about the boys' [Howard Shumway and Hansi] chess. Damn it, I wish I could get back to the dear old Horsel! You can take pupils, of course, and put them through the preliminary stages. In fact, I hope you will get plenty. Best love to all of you—too busy to express all I want to say.
93 93/93.
Yours ever,
The Beast 666.
