Correspondence from Aleister Crowley to Norman Mudd

Astral Journeys
Observe the following facts:
1. 666 tries out A.I. [Eddie Saayman] with remarkable results.
2. 666 tries out O.P.V. [Norman Mudd] with remarkable results. The result is in fact so remarkable that there is not even need of reference to traditional correspondences to make the identity abundantly manifest.
3. O.P.V. is properly impressed.
4. 666 urges him to develop his admirable powers by regular practice.
5. O.P.V. says I shall be able to do a vision of this sort every day without in any way interfering with my other work. This remark is obviously true. Such visions should serve as relaxation, recreation, and encouragement, to say nothing of their possible use in their general enlightenment and fortification of that other work.
6. O.P.V. writes explaining that it is impossible for him to attempt anything of the sort. The subject is quietly but deliberately dropped.
7. 666 reflects on the above facts. The same thing has happened over and over again in his experience.
8. It seems as if the very certainty of the method somehow operated to inhibit people from practicing or publishing it.
9. It seems as if the energies concerned were bitterly jealous.
10. The question arises. Should their opposition be taken as indicating a justifiable safe-guarding of the Mysteries or should we insist despite their resentment on furnishing mankind with this formidably efficient engine of research.
