Yours of 24-11- just after I mailed my last.
I did write to Germer [Karl Germer] many months ago, saying that no publishing was ever intended. If you had seen to it that your money and his was used as we meant, all would have been well. It was you who insisted on trusting Thynne [Major Robert Thynne].
Germer thinks it outrageous that you should have sent that thief his confidential letter, and is glad you did so. I am accusing you as a well-meaning bloody fool. You are funny when you propose dissociating yourself from matters out of which you have been chucked. You will do more wisely to ask rehabilitation in a chastened spirit!
You don't know my methods till I explain them; as I can now do with your view in perspective. But we should have a personal interview. I can put you up in this attic where we starve and freeze and rejoice.
Most of your letter is out of date. Obviously, Thynne arranged the bankruptcy for a date when you would not be there. Your idea of saving the books etc is the same as mine and Lloyd's. [Illegible] has the stock (including Magick [Magick in Theory and Practice]) in storage.
Glad you're getting down to El Oued conditions. The Greek innkeeper (blind) at Nefta is a great [illegible] and a great friend of mine. Can you get news of Belgacean bin Amor[?]? Sorry you missed Abdul Aziz—an adept and a gentleman. And no fool! Give my regards to Captain Belvolette[?].
Yes: stick to Liber Legis and get rid of your personal and sentimental troubles. That is the basis of your treachery; it bit you just there because you said V[olo] I[ntelligere]. So you were tested as to possibilities and went west. But I shall be very glad to see your Desert Record. I had hoped you would have washed out your [illegible] before now.

P.S. No news of Marie [Maria de Miramar], despite urgent inquiries. Perhaps her death lies at your door. You ought to have known that I would never desert her in any conditions—or even "dissociate myself" from her "affairs tenfold". [illegible]
Nor is there any news of Astarte! I really wonder if you haven't committed the most abominable crime in occult history.
And yet—[illegible].
