Thank you very much for your letter of the 18th. November, as also for the indications you give me in it.
The delay in answering it, and the present condition of things, are fully explained in the letter I have just written Mr. Germer [Karl Germer], who was naturally also concerned about the absence of news from here. I am sending you a copy of that letter.
