[Correspondence concerning Constable & Co.'s preparation for the appeal to the libel suit brought by

Aleister Crowley against Nina Hamnett and the publication of her book Laughing Torso.]

My dear Harper,

Thank you for your letter of 9th August.

Chit 1: I do hope that if Crowley ever pays we shall get the £136.1.0 from O'Connor. I have much appreciated your kind suggestion that you will not charge us more than the £327.8.9 if Crowley does not pay.

My own view is that if and when the time comes for pressing Crowley for payment, he will cheerfully agree to be made a bankrupt.

Sincerely yours,

Charles J.S. Harper Esq.,
