Yours of March 19 found us in completely desperate straits. I really don't see why Herbst [Dr. Vernon Bernard Herbst], who must be a fairly rich man, should not help directly.

     

I am very sorry to hear of your troubles, but I am very proud of you for carrying on so splendidly in the circumstances. In spite of everything, I think that the new Equinox is going to put everything right.
