Correspondence from Frieda Harris to Aleister Crowley
[partial]
[October 1938]
You know I've been looking again at those colours a horrible feeling affrights me. I see in magic [Magick in Theory and Practice], you use the 1-10 for the suits—now we have been using the colours belonging to the ruling planet & zodiacal sign. Is that alright or do I also combine the colours which can be used such as in the 2 of cups—I see I could have used—pure soft blue-grey—Blue pearl grey—white flecked red blue & yellow as well as the Venus—emerald green—sky blue—early spring Bright rose or cerise rayed pale green & Cancer amber—Maroon—rich bright russet—Dark greenish brown . . .
Please let me know before I begin the 3S [Swords] as it gives me more scope. . . . I should be able to use 3—crimson black Dark brown—grey-flecked pink and Cancer amber-maroon bright russet—Dark greenish brown and Mercury yellow purple—grey—indigo rayed violet. Have I got a bit muddled?
Tony [Galloway] & I are trying to put all the notes you have sent me on the Tarot into some form to explain the cards but there are lots of things I don't understand in the cards I have not gone over with you.
