Correspondence from Aleister Crowley to Wilfred Talbot Smith

Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.
Yours of Sept 1 is highly satisfactory. What I want you to do is to let me have all the data about this property, photographs as well as location which must be shewn by means of a map. Send me, in fact, the stuff that an Estate Agent would send to any possible purchaser. You might include photo of some film star's house, not too big, as a sample of local architecture. I have someone in mind; in fact. More than one person; but I can't do anything on mere letters.
I am trying to get out to the States, as I think my best usefulness to England at the moment would be to take up my old job. If I can persuade them to appoint me. I may be with you fairly soon.
I am still very busy with the Tarot [The Book of Thoth], but it nears completion. I do not like the idea of putting people through in bunches; it was never done in my Lodge. For one thing, the impressiveness of the ritual is very much decreased; more important still, the presence of fellow victims reassures the candidate. If he is alone in as sinister a bunch of gangsters as your goodselves, he is naturally scared, which is good for his soul. Of course this means lots of extra work for the officers, but that is good for them too. In any case it is absolutely prohibited to raise more than one candidate at a time in the Third.
Love is the law, love under will.
Love to all
