Correspondence from Karl Germer to Jane Wolfe

Dear Jane,
93
Thanks for your M.O. [Money Order] and letter. I hope your dental work will be a success. It is curious that so many have had their teeth attended to: A.C., Max [Max Schneider], yourself, I and Sascha [Sascha Germer], Georgia [Georgia Schneider].
No, Ray [Ray Burlingame] did not write me his impression on the last meeting. I do not hear from Jack [Jack Parsons] at all, and I don't think he is acting wisely in that. But I hope he is at least writing A.C. regularly with full reports and requests for advice.
The most tragic thing is that he keeps WTS [Wilfred Talbot Smith] at 1003 [1003 S. Orange Grove Avenue]—with Helen [Helen Parsons] I presume and the baby. How terrible the disregard of a magical injunction by A.C., given in a formal way, reacts upon the disobedient, can be seen from the letter I received from Roy some weeks ago and of which I enclose a copy for your personal instruction. No need to show it to others. In his case there was the purity of motive, the belief to be acting in the interest of the Order, and probably in the line of A.C.'s thoughts, that attenuated the circumstances. But still, not being magically or spiritually mature enough, he was incapable of seeing the subtle workings of the poison of the demonic forces, until Rhea [Rhea Leffingwell] asserted herself and wrote me. He himself was already too ensnared to see and act with sufficient clarity and strength.
I do wish somebody would write A.C. fully on details as far as they are available concerning 1003. It's the only way of obtaining help. The only one out there who has understanding in a clearer way on such magical matters—apart from yourself, but you seem to lack clearness of insight into causes, and therefore strength and surety to assert your convictions—is Max. And he has been outmatched not only by the hold that WTS has on 1003, but also by WTS' subtlety, and mostly Jack's weakness and the latter's utter ignorance in magical matters.—In the absence of other reports I do wish you would keep me posted on details as much as you can.
