Lovely weather—did a dawdle shop etc for an hour. Full of busk & bonhomie; but stress of Pola, who came to tea, was a bit fearsome; and the menace of MAS [Maurice A. Sutherland] coming to chess later, formidable.
I want to be alone to read and write!
