Aleister Crowley Diary Entry Saturday, 13 October 1945
[I Ching hexagram] 10.
Pearl [Pearl Brooksmith] 3 Langford Place NW8.
3.30 Chess v.[ersus] Brighton. I asked Norman, match captain, to put me low; so I was 12. Won, after usual interval of carelessness. Claimed on time limit, in case I made a slip. But I had a won game, a piece up & a big attack. We played on & he crumbled in about 4 moves. Opponent: one Chapman.
