Ibott Islay. Mist from Mrs. W.[ellington] Koo [wife of the Chinese Ambassador].
Wrote her with City of God re her Path.
Chess re nameless dud. 1st game I overrated him—and it made a great struggle. 2nd: creating a combination on Q side—Quintessence of Anderson, Lasker, Morply & Zukertort—I didn't notice that I had a mate on the move! Open to me for 3 moves!! Some chess-blindness. Still, I won—rather prettily. Later v.[ersus] Watson [Herbert Watson]—odds of Q. A really fine game.
