Aleister Crowley Diary Entry Thursday, 6 December 1945
[I Ching hexagram] 52.
Chit from Louis [Louis Wilkinson]. Ans[were]d [Letter - 6 December 1945].
Sent budget to Saturnus [Karl Germer].
Chess v.[ersus] [H.H.] Cole 1-1. The loss was crazy. He threw away a kt—and I was ass enough to return it; sheer carelessness! I resigned in disgust. V.[ersus] Manson 2 1/2-1/2. The draw was due to my silliness in letting him get a K[nigh]t at K.[ing] 6 which I couldn't attack. All pieces gone but R.[ook] & K[night]t VR & B.[ishop]; neither could attack. V.[ersus] Watson[1] 1-1 The loss: he did attack at last, on my advice. The win: he attacked too rashly!
1—[Refers either to William G. Watson, a member of the Hastings Chess Club, or Herbert Watson.]
