Jane Wolfe Diary Entry Sunday, 2 April 1939
Saturday I wrote Culling [Louis Culling] a note regarding taking DeMoroff [Jane Wolfe's lover] with me to Culling's cabin. Instead of posting, I handed this letter to him before the Ritual this evening. Afterwards we had a talk. He has nothing whatever against DeMoroff—except he talks too much—says there are no strings to my going to the Cabin, and that I may take with me whomever I choose to take. He said "No" to DeMoroff at the time DeMoroff announced baldly his intention of going, first because he was flabbergasted and secondly he did not want anything to interfere with my plans and Lawrence [DeMoroff] did not say he was going with me. What a mess Max [Max Schneider] made of it! Angered Lawrence so that he quit him as Guru. And all that rigmarole to me about Culling not liking DeMoroff because of Thayne! Freudian to say the least.
