IN THE QUARTER

Aleister Crowley, mystical poet, traveller and philosopher, author of many volumes which it is now impossible to procure and which have become collectors’ items, is arranging for the production of one of his plays, “The Three Wishes” in Paris during the winter. Mr. Crowley spent some years in the East, living in Tibet, Indo-China, India and the Malay Archipelago, studying religions, languages and customs. He is the only person of our acquaintance, and probably the only one we shall ever know, who speaks and writes Tibetan. Mr. Crowley bas been the animateur of many literary groups during the last three decades and his work continues to be followed with great interest by many people. At present he makes his home in Fontainebleau, although he comes to the Quarter frequently. His translation of Baudelaire’s “Petits Poemes et Prose” [Little Poems in Prose] will soon be out with the Titus imprint.
