Brazilian Consulate General Sydney New South Wales.
May 15th 1916
L. B. Yardley. Esq., “Baynards” Innes Street, Observatory, Johannesburg S.A.
Dear Sir and Very Illustrious Brother.
Your letter of the 21st. March last in reply to mine of the 27th January has just reached us for which accept our thanks.
1.—re Soror Mathieson [Veni Cooper-Mathieson]. We beg to acknowledge Official receipt for fee of Honour.
2.—re Section Charter. We note that now that we have completed our Grand Council the Sovereign Grand Master will forward us a Section Charter which will enable us to Chart Lodges etc. as a National Grand Council, and that Very Illustrious Brother Dunn [Ernest Dunn] will take the title of National Grand Master General, and Very Illustrious [Brother] Bennett [Frank Bennett] the title of National Grand Secretary General.
3.—re Very Illustrious Brother Dunn. We have received the Patent proclaiming Very Illustrious Brother Dunn O.T.O. VII°, and Acting Viceroy for Australasia signed by the Very Honoured Brother Sir J. T. Windram [James. T. Windram] (Mercurius X°) which provides him with all the necessary powers. We would like to point out however that the seal has not been affixed to either the Patent of V. Ill. Bro. Coopers. I presume that this was an oversight and if you will post them to us we will with your sanction affix them. V. Ill Bro. Bennett’s and V. Ill. Soror Mathieson’s Patents both bear the seal referred to.
4.—re Lodge Charter. We note that we need not worry about this as the Section Charter will replace it, and enable us to Charter our own Lodge.
5.—re Name of Lodge. We not that you have no objection to the name selected for the Lodge, but that the S.G.M. suggests that V. Ill. Bro. Dunn selects some other name for magical title, and with this in view V. Ill. Bro. Dunn has selected the name of MAXIMUS which we trust will meet with your approval.
6.—re Joseph Cooper. We have received the Patent for Very Illustrious Brother Cooper also Official receipt for his fee of honor.
7.—re Rituals. We not that the Grand Master Baphomet is about to issue an Official Ritual which will replace those now in use, and that we should not print the one forwarded for the time being, also that the Hiramic Legend be substituted for the Osirian in the III°. We also note the Brethren of the VII are required to use the Elevenfold Cross before their names, and that the V.O.S.L.[1] in O.T.O. Ceremonies throughout is “Liber Legis” [in] Equinox Vol I No. 10 or Liber 65. These instructions will be observed.
In conclusion we beg that you will convey to the Most Holy Most Illuminated and Most Illustrious Sovereign Grand Master General our gratitude for the help vouchsafed and the honour conferred by constituting this Section a National Grand Council.
Yours in the Bonds of the Order
FRANK BENNETT VII° O.T.O. National Grand Secretary General
DUNN VII° O.T.O. National Grand Master General And Acting Viceroy for Australasia.
