Correspondence from to Gerald Yorke to Karl Germer

Dear Germer,

I enclose a copy of letter I have written Jones [Charles Stansfeld Jones] about A.C.'s diaries, which he has found.

Lady Harris [Frieda Harris] has the Hopfer [Oskar Hopfer] diagrams for the contemplated new edition of 777. I thought they had been lost, as I had not seen them since about 1930, and they were not amongst A.C.'s papers. The only bit of bad news is that she says that she has not got the old boy's Yi King sticks. My memory of her taking them is strong, so I expect she has merely forgotten and mislaid them. If she has not got them, they are lost.

John Symonds and I have not yet seen the collection of MSS bought by the Magic Circle. They have promised access. We found at 93 Jermyn Street 7 or 8 rather damaged copies of The Equinox of the Gods. Do you want them? I presume so. They have some other books there which belonged to the old boy, but could not find them when we called. We will call again to see what they are.

Jones's find is really important. It is I think the carton of things which A.C. accused him of stealing when Smith [Wilfred Talbot Smith] and Tränker [Heinrich Tränker] and someone else were formed into a committee to investigate the matter in 1926. I am confident in [having] them from him to copy and shall of course send one copy of everything to you.

Yours,

Gerald Yorke.
