Aleister Crowley Diary Entry Rex de Arte Regia Wednesday, 3 September 1914
Opus[1] I
Marie Maddingley—respectable married woman.
Object: ‘Sex-force and sex-attraction’ in order to facilitate the practice of the IX° for these experiments.
The girl was very weak feminine, easily excitable and very keen, it being the first time she had committed adultery. Op[eratio]n highly orgiastic, and Elixir of first rate quality.
Result: I argue complete success from the nature of the following record, No. II.
(I suspect that these operations will not cross the sea. The identical operations in April worked admirably for two months. I then crossed to Paris, and found inhibition; but met W.D. [Walter Duranty] and won out. So here see Opus V and Opus VI.)
1—[Crowley performs a magical sexual operation.]
