Dear
Mr. Kaplan:
You must
think me a cad, or whatever it is, for having neglected to
attend to your letter of Jan. 15 of this year for so long.
It is simply that I have been in a frightful mess. Too long
to explain. However, it seems that I am at last in a
residence which I can consider lasting for some
months—unless something blows up in some part of the
world.—I expect to collect my archives at this place in a
few weeks, when the present party moves out, and can once
more get some order in my things.
I have the album of photos here
and will see about sending it by Express to you to-day or
to-morrow. If you can return it to me within a few weeks, it
will be allright.
As to "Snowdrops" [Snowdrops from a Curate's Garden], I won't have my TS.
[typescript] before all my things get
here, i.e. in 2 or 3 weeks and will than loan it to you.
You ask about some of the books of
which I have some copies left. I enclose a copy of a list of
books I have available with the prices set for a dealer in
Hollywood, on which he gets 40%. You know the ethics of the
trade, and I believe I am justified in giving you the same
discount. The book "Olla"
is an exception, you can have this for $1.00 net.—"777"
allows only 33—1/3% discount on the price listed. All other
40%.
I apologize again for my
negligence, and hoping all is well at your end, and with
kind regards to Sam Jacobs [Samuel Jacobs]
and yourself,
Sincerely
yours
Karl
Germer
