Dear  Jones,

Your 1/4/48. and two of 13/4/48 [Letter #1 / Letter #2]. Have you a copy of The Message of the Master Therion, a four-page pamphlet beginning "In the Eleventh Year of the Aeon of Horus . . . Because THERION a Magus . . . now therefore must he of necessity take up the Curse of his Grade and preach his Law to men . . . The word of the Law is THELEMA" . . . "Now it is said of the Magus that in the beginning doth he speak truth and send forth Illusion and Falsehood to ensnare the soul. If so let it not be his fault: let him make clear the meaning of his Law. It is said 'Let Him beware of abstinence from action. For the curse of His grade is that He must Speak Truth, that the Falsehood thereof may enslave the souls of men'. The Key is this word Thelema". This bears out my belief that A.C. regarded Thelema rather than Abrahadabra as his word. Whether is it possible to receive your word before you actually take the grade of Magus, I do not know, but that was A.C.'s claim. All that I assert is that he did not produce a fresh word on attaining the grade of Magus. It is not quite correct to say that he never produced a word. Not having myself taken the higher grades I am not in a position to judge whether you and A.C. did in fact take them or merely though you did. I am however concerned now as to whether I pass aspirants who come my way on to you or Germer [Karl Germer]. I think I hear to the contrary from you, that I shall give them both your addresses and leave them to judge for themselves. One man is coming to see me about this on my return to London in May. I am not prepared to take on aspirants myself. Do you want me to give them your address or not? If you are a Magus I do not see how you can avoid the curse of your grade and give out what you know will be misunderstood. Am I right for instance in taking it that the Word of 1926 is MAN IO, for this would appear to be concealed in MANIFESTATION like an egg in a nest? Is the symbol of 1932 your Silver Star letter heading? You do leave one guessing. I do wish you would write a short clear thesis on the subject like your Liber 31. Until you do it is almost impossible to judge whether your Aeon of Truth and Justice is a fact or a figment of your imagination. I want to get it clear with a view to deciding whether I pass people on to you, for I am neither competent nor prepared to train others myself. My quarrel with you is that you keep on saying "There is a word", but you leave one guessing as to what it is. On my return to London I will put all your letters in chronological order, and read them through with Liber Legis and the qabalistic dictionary.

Let me know if you would like a copy of The Message of the Master Therion and The Law of Liberty, both four-page pamphlets of which I have duplicates.

Yours,

Yorke.

Your 30/3/48 and two of 14/4/48 [Letter #1 / Letter #2], which is your record being six letters today.

Your 30/3/48. I mistrust qabalistic calculations from newspaper articles, but daresay I am wrong.

Your teachings of the New Aeon. It is difficult for Germer to understand "The Word Not Known" without Liber 31. Your word now appears to be MA-ION and not MAN-IO, and I take the symbol of 1932 to be a thirteenfold star-diamond, with the word Manifestation written so that a letter appears in each of the 13 angles. Am I right? Probably not.

A.C. never got the Stélé of Revealing itself. He was always about to go to do so, but never did. He had a copy made, the one of which you know, I expect, and this was always in his room. This copy has been or will be sent to Germer. The original remains in the museum at Cairo, but I believe is no longer in exhibition case 666. I wonder if you or Germer will abstruct it? I expect not. Besides, what does abstruct mean? I do not think you can find it in the dictionary.

Yours,

Gerald Yorke.

Yours 15 and 16 Apr. I am relieved to find that you to think that I cannot judge at present. Let me know when the series of "original records just as happened" is complete and then I will read them all through again carefully in order. I look forward to a copy of QNA. I think that Lustration survives and not the original degree which A.C. wrote. I will check on return to London and let you know. I do not like Isa for Jesus. A.C. was not scholastic as he relied entirely on his memory and seldom checked back. I have everything which A.C. printed except some five items; I will send you the list of what is missing in case you have them duplicated—will do so on return to London. I now feel disappointed if there are not at least two letters from you on my plate at breakfast. Keep it up.

Yours,

Gerald Yorke.
