Jurgen, a novel by James Branch Cabell is published today by Robert M. McBride & Co. of New York City. Chapter 22 of the novel is a parody of Crowley's Gnostic Mass which was published in the Equinox Vol. III No. 1 on 21 March 1919. On 14 January 1920 Jurgen was declared obscene and banned. This set in motion a lawsuit in which Cabell was finally acquitted on 19 October 1922.
